Alright, so Microsoft’s plan of branching out Windows 8 platform at an affordable price point has well and truly begun. Global brands have already managed to price the tablet at under $100 mark and slowly, we’ll be seeing similar products in India as well. For the time being, you can buy a Notion Ink Windows 8 powered tablet at sub Rs 10,000 pricing, powered by Intel.
The same company which has managed to launch an affordable 2-in-1 Windows hybrid in the country is back again with another Windows offering, this time for the tablet users. Lining up alongside Notion Ink Cain 2-in-1 is the Notion Ink Cain 8 tablet which is priced at Rs 9,990 in the country.
It sports an 8 inch 1280x800p display and running on Windows 8.1 platform, packs a quad-core Intel Atom chipset. You’ll find 1 GB RAM paired up with the Atom processor for performance efficiency and offering 16 GB expandable storage, up to 64 GB. Just like any slate these days, Cain 8 has been fitted with dual-facing 2 MP cameras; back and front.
In terms of connectivity, Cain 8 offers 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mini-HDMI and the microUSB for external storage and charging purpose. The tablet houses a 4000 mAh battery that as per the company should last for about 6 hours of multimedia use.
Priced at Rs 9,990 Notion Ink has managed to bundle one year bonus subscription to Office 365 service and offering 1 TB OneDrive storage space for any Notion Ink Cain 8 buyers.
The decision to offer free licensed Windows platform to devices below the 9 inch sizing has really helped budding start up brands to offer competent affordable products and we look forward to see more mainstream names joining the ranks.
